रावण: (अलंकृत और शिकारी) इस ठंडे पत्थर को सुशोभित करने के लिए आकाश से कौन सा तारा गिरा है? हे सुंदरी, अपने कदम रोको।

रंभा रुक जाती है, उसका चेहरा अचानक डर से पीला पड़ जाता है।
रंभा: (कांपती हुई लेकिन स्पष्ट आवाज) महान राजा, मैं रंभा हूं। मैं अपने स्वामी नलकूबर के पास जाने की जल्दी में हूं। मुझे सम्मान के साथ जाने दें।

दृश्य 3: तर्क
रावण करीब आता है, उसकी उपस्थिति दम घोंटने वाली है।
रावण: नलकूबर तो बस एक बालक है। मैं तीनों लोकों का स्वामी हूं। जब जंगल की आग इंतजार कर रही हो तो अपना अमृत एक पौधे पर क्यों बर्बाद करें?
रंभा: (हताश) आप अपने ही परिजनों की बात कर रहे हैं! आपके भतीजे के साथ मेरे मिलन से, मैं आपके लिए एक पुत्री के समान हूं। मुझे मत छुओ, क्योंकि यह सूर्य पर ही एक धब्बा होगा!

रावण हंसता है, एक कठोर, धातु जैसी आवाज जो चोटियों से टकराती है।
रावण: मनुष्यों के नियम राक्षसों को नहीं बांधते। वासना कोई वंश नहीं जानती।

दृश्य 4: परिणाम और श्राप
रावण के झपटने पर स्क्रीन काली हो जाती है। हमें एक एकल, तीखी चीख सुनाई देती है जो गूँजती है और फिर फीकी पड़ जाती है।
(15 सेकंड का मौन/अंधेरा)
कट टू: नलकूबर का कुंज।
रंभा नलकूबर के चरणों में पड़ी है, उसकी दिव्य चमक फीकी पड़ गई है।
नलकूबर का चेहरा दुख से एक भयानक, दिव्य क्रोध में बदल जाता है।
नलकूबर: (ठंडे लोहे की आवाज) चूंकि उसने एक महिला के साथ खेत के जानवर जैसा व्यवहार किया है, इसलिए स्वर्ग का कानून उसे तोड़ दे।
वह पवित्र जल लेता है।
नलकूबर: यदि रावण फिर कभी किसी ऐसी महिला पर अपनी इच्छा थोपता है जो उसे नहीं चाहती, तो उसका सिर सात टुकड़ों में फट जाएगा, जैसे पृथ्वी से टकराने वाला कोई सूखा फल!
